Cabaret: The Real Meaning of Valentine's Day

Performed as piano accompanist with Paloma Menendez from Miami two days ago at the Red Room (Cafe 939) as part of a singer's showcase, Cabaret: The Real Meaning of Valentine's Day. The tune heard here is titled, "Strange Fruit", and it has some of the most powerful lyrics I've ever come across. Even though it was written and released in 1939, its lyrics remains all so relevant in today's world. Racism is hardly a thing of the past, and there is much progress to be made. The lyrics of this tune paints the picture of the gruesome and horrifying history that we have become beneficiaries of; and it serves as a reminder of every individual's responsibility in the fight against racism.
